Chapter 1: NDA (National Defence Academy) Examination

Overview

The National Defence Academy (NDA) examination is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) twice a year for admission to the Army, Navy, and Air Force wings of the NDA. This is one of India’s most prestigious examinations for students who dream of serving the nation as officers in the Indian Armed Forces.

Eligibility Criteria

Nationality:

• Indian Citizen
• Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
• Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962
• Person of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, or Vietnam

Age Limit:

• 16.5 to 19.5 years (unmarried male candidates only)
• Born between:
• For NDA I: July 2, 2007, to July 1, 2010
• For NDA II: January 2, 2008, to January 1, 2011

Educational Qualification:

• For Army Wing: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern of school education or equivalent examination.
• For Air Force and Navy Wings: 12th Class pass of the 10+2 pattern with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects.
